Gundam Inspired GT-R
Nissan Chief Creative Officer, Shiro Nakamura, was determined to design a new GT-R that pushed the boundaries of technology and styling, while staying true to the GT-R Japanese heritage. According to Shiro Nakamura, the angular lines and high-tech vents of the GT-R were inspired by the Japanese anime series Gundam.
“The GT-R is unique because it is not simply a copy of a European designed supercar,” says Shiro Nakamura. “It had to really reflect [Japanese] culture.”
The Nissan GT-R is in direct competition with exotics around the world like Ferrari. In stark contrast to Ferrari’s smooth flowing organic style, the Nissan GT-R is stout, angular, and aggressive looking - almost futuristic. With a price tag of $69,850 and a 480-hp twin turbo V6 engine, that launches the GT-R zero to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds, the Nissan GT-R may be the best new sports car value available.
Until you can get your hands on a Gundam spec mecha, the Nissan GT-R is the closest option.
